For a few weeks now I can’t log into PayPal anymore. Usually they would send me a code via email or SMS. But. all of a sudden the only option they have is calling me on an out of date home phone.
Apart from me not living there anymore I am also severely disabled and can’t talk on the phone. But the stupid customer service (which you can only message when you’re logged in) insists on me calling them. i could reach them by email because thanks to German law they have to supply an address in their legal notice.
And after a bit back and forth they agreed to remove the old number. And then proceeded to ask for a new number. Which I don’t have because I don’t use a phone which I told them. Only to ask in the next message to call them.
Stupid customer service drones never read the whole email chain. They just read the last part and select a somewhat fitting text block. I’d almost be better off talking to a stupid AI.

I take it you don’t want to fight PayPal nail and tooth. But just in case I’ll cite the Allgemeines Gleichstellungsgesetz. Threatening legal action might suffice to escalate this to 2nd or 3rd level support, where people are actually paid to read tickets instead of closing them.
The gist of this is: Discriminating against people with disabilities is illegal. There’s a federal office that helps victims defend themselves.
