I just watched the new Animal Farm with the expectation that it would be a watered down version without much of a message left but I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, it’s been a while since I’ve read the book. But the gist of it seems to be there. But with the communist criticism replaced by capitalism criticism.
The evil billionaire who bribes the evil politicians even drives a Cybertruck. And the movie is filled with the pigs spouting right wing rhetoric and tactics, that we have come to know and loath.
spoiler ending
And even though this movie has a “happy” ending it only comes through violent revolution. But everything is still in ruins and the animals don’t delude themselves into thinking it couldn’t happen again. They remind themselves that they have to remain vigilant.
I only hate that the billionaire survives.
So, yeah, I don’t agree with the review posted in https://literature.cafe/post/31351558 at all. Yes, the story was changed. But it still stuck to the point.
Edit: Forgot to add that I still didn’t really like the movie. It should either have been more subtle to make the audience think more or less subtle to better get through fascist skulls.

180-spin? That would mean that either the book or the movie say that authoritarianism is great. Neither do.
Uh… The book in question is mostly authoritarianism, with a late-stage expansion with baked-in socialism that was so ill-recieved, it got the co-author murdered.
